Ten Cruel (and Unwise) Things Our Federal Administration Has Done

This list highlights ten of the most important actions taken by our current federal administration in 2025 that have had harsh and far-reaching consequences for Americans and the world. We could easily list dozens more. Each action is not only cruel but also unwise, causing harm to the very citizens our administration is charged by the U.S. Constitution to serve.

1. Dismantling USAID

The administration, with Elon Musk, ended the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), halting humanitarian aid to over 100 countries. This abrupt move led to millions of children losing food, health care, and protection, with projections of over 14 million preventable deaths by 2030. Furthermore, the absence of USAID workers weakens our friendships abroad, creates space for terrorist groups to grow, and exposes our citizens to dangerous diseases.

2. Shifting Wealth to the Richest

The "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" slashed Medicare and Medicaid, cut food and school aid for the poorest, and closed rural hospitals, while giving massive tax breaks to the top 1%. The result: the poor lose essential support, while the rich get richer, and the national deficit grows by $4 trillion over ten years.

3. Cruelty to Children

On a Sunday in 2025 (Labor Day Weekend), in the middle of the night, the administration attempted to secretly deport hundreds of unaccompanied children, stopped only by an alert federal judge at 2:30 AM. In October 2025, during an ICE raid on a Chicago apartment building, witnesses and residents reported that children were put in handcuffs or zip-ties, separated from their parents, and detained for hours.

4. Inhumane Detention Centers

The administration built "Alligator Alcatraz," a notoriously cruel detention center in Florida, and also sent migrants to prison in El Salvador without due process, where they were physically and sexually abused in what they called "hell on earth."

5. Undermining Families

The administration historically worked to end legal abortion, but in 2025 amazingly cut support for children and families—cutting health insurance for poor children and families by $1 trillion over a decade, reducing the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) by 20%, and reducing funding for child protection and violence prevention.

6. Dividing the Nation

The administration's spokespersons have repeatedly used inflammatory and profane language to target immigrants and minorities, spreading misinformation and deepening divisions within the country. They have repeatedly called unauthorized immigrants, "rapists, illegal monsters, killers, and gang members who poison our country."

7. Militarizing Cities

Trump increased ICE and National Guard deployments, leading to military-style raids in cities like Chicago. These actions, often opposed by local leaders, resulted in mass detentions but few criminal charges. They have been found illegal in federal courts.

8. Spreading Misinformation

Representatives of our government are constantly flooding the media with misinformation and lies, making it harder for the public to discern the truth.

9. Pardoning Criminals

Despite claiming to be tough on crime, the president pardoned about 1600 allies and participants in the January 6 Capitol attack, as well as three infamous convicted international criminals.

10. Denying Science

Our government has denied climate change, promoted fossil fuels, and cut funding for vaccines, leading to increasingly terrible natural disasters as well as a resurgence of preventable diseases like measles in the U.S. and abroad.

Summary
Our federal administration's actions, as outlined above, have had severe humanitarian, social, and economic impacts—both domestically and globally. These decisions have not only caused suffering but have also undermined America’s values and long-term national interests. They are cruel—and unwise.
